Ibrahim Fakhri is a Syrian artist and curator primarily concerned with the civil activism in Syria and the Middle East, who has been based in the UK since 2004. He has exhibited the graffiti of the Syrian Revolution in venues in Europe and the UK including the Disobedient Objects Exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum and also in the Talking Peace festival.
Over 100,000 Syrians have died since the revolution began in March 2011. During Freedom Graffiti Week Syria, the faces of those killed in the revolution were turned into stencils, then spray painted across the country. Aram Tahhan and Ibrahim Fakhri’s banner challenges the media’s reductive view of life as a simple statistic.
